Tree Removal in Košice – Hazardous Tree Removal, Pruning & Arboricultural Services

I specialise in removing hazardous and difficult trees, primarily in Košice, Gelnica, Prešov and the surrounding area – near houses, fences, overhead power lines and anywhere there is no room for mistakes. For larger or technically demanding projects, I also travel further afield, including Poprad, Spišská Nová Ves, Michalovce, Rožňava and Kežmarok.

My primary focus is tree removal and climbing work – it is both my main specialisation and the work I enjoy the most. During periods when tree removal work is less common (for example, outside the main season due to legal restrictions), I also provide professional tree pruning, tree planting, overgrown land clearing with a brushcutter and ground-level gutter cleaning.

I approach these services with the same attention to detail and reliability, but hazardous tree work is where my experience is strongest. I work safely using rope access techniques without the need for an expensive cherry picker.

I plan every job according to risk, not chance. For tree removal, pruning and tree crown bracing, I combine practical experience with knowledge gained through courses provided by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).

I work safely and methodically at height, from professional pruning and hazardous tree removal to planting new trees and maintaining overgrown land. Every job is adapted to the available space, neighbouring properties and traffic conditions, with care taken to leave the site clean and minimise disruption.

Hazardous Tree Removal in Košice and the Surrounding Area

Controlled lowering of a large tree section during hazardous tree removal
Controlled lowering using a professional rigging system – not free-falling branches.

Trees growing close to houses, roofs, fences or overhead power lines, where there is no room for mistakes. Controlled rope lowering helps prevent damage to surrounding property.

  • tree growing close to a house or roof (risk of damage)
  • branches extending over a fence or neighbouring property (risk of falling)
  • tree above overhead power lines (hazardous situation)
  • no space to fell the tree safely (sectional dismantling required)

These situations cannot be solved simply by cutting the tree at the base – why this approach does not work in practice and what can happen .

Not all tree removals are the same. Cheap solutions often mean "let it fall wherever it falls." I carry out controlled dismantling with safety and precision.

I safely remove dead, diseased and hazardous trees. When there is no room to fell a tree in one piece, I perform sectional dismantling from the crown, lowering every section under control with ropes to avoid damage to surrounding property. The work area is always secured before cutting begins.

  • Typical situations: trees growing close to houses, garages or fences, trees at risk of falling, root damage or decay at the base. In these cases, the price can vary considerably – see also how much tree removal costs in practice.
  • How I work: directional felling where it is safe to do so, or sectional dismantling using a professional rigging system.
  • After the job: the stump can be left level, the timber can remain on site, be cut into firewood or removed, depending on your preference.

If you're dealing with a tree that could damage your home or surrounding property, it can usually be removed safely and under control.

Send me photos of the tree and its surroundings and I'll let you know whether it can be removed safely and provide an initial price estimate.

I can also explain which permits or notifications may be required and help you prepare them – see Legislation.

Every section was lowered under full control using ropes. This has nothing in common with "€100 tree removal" where the tree is simply left to fall wherever it may.

Tree Pruning (Ornamental and Fruit Trees)

Applying tree wound dressing to a large pruning cut on a walnut tree
After larger cuts, I apply tree wound dressing where appropriate to help protect the wound and support healthy future growth.

I prune trees to help keep them healthy, safe and able to thrive over the long term. I remove dead, damaged or poorly positioned branches and, where appropriate, carry out crown cleaning, crown reduction or weight reduction, and formative pruning. I also prune fruit trees, with the aim of maintaining a balanced crown, good fruit production and easier long-term maintenance.

Not every type of pruning is beneficial. Drastically cutting back the top of a tree, known as topping, can severely weaken it, encourage decay and create even greater safety problems over time. Read more about why tree topping is a bad idea.

  • When pruning is recommended: dead or damaged branches, branches extending over a roof or footpath, contact with overhead lines, an excessively dense crown or a neglected fruit tree.
  • How I work: depending on the situation, I work from the ground, from a ladder or using professional climbing techniques. Cuts are made precisely and with consideration for the tree's long-term health.
  • After pruning: larger cuts may be treated with tree wound dressing where appropriate. I clean the work area, and the cut timber can be left on site, cut into smaller pieces or removed by agreement.
  • The result: a safer tree, a more stable crown, more light and an improved appearance without unnecessary intervention.

Tree Crown Bracing – Cobra System

Not every hazardous tree has to be removed. Where there are weak branch unions, included bark, damaged leaders or structurally weakened parts of the crown, dynamic tree crown bracing can often be the best solution.

I use the professional Cobra Dynamic Bracing System – a non-invasive tree support system installed without drilling into the wood. The tree retains its natural movement in the wind while the weakened part of the crown is supported against sudden failure.

  • Typical applications: weak branch unions with included bark, damaged leaders, mature trees near buildings, or branches extending over roofs, footpaths or other high-value targets.
  • How I work: I climb into the crown, assess the structural condition of the tree and install the dynamic bracing system without drilling into the wood.
  • The result: reduced risk of structural failure while allowing the tree to retain its natural movement and flexibility.

Tree Planting

I can recommend a suitable tree species, size and planting location, taking into account soil conditions, distances from buildings and overhead services, as well as the tree's future growth.

  • What is included: selecting a suitable tree, preparing the planting hole, staking where necessary, mulching and basic aftercare.
  • Tip: after removing a fruit tree, planting a replacement tree may, in some situations, form part of a compensatory planting requirement or qualify under a legal exemption.

Overgrown Land Clearing

I clear tall grass, dense weeds and young self-seeded trees in places where a regular lawn mower cannot cope. I specialise in steep slopes, neglected land, areas around fences, forest edges and other difficult-to-access locations. Using professional brushcutters designed for all-day work, I can efficiently tackle even dense and demanding vegetation.

I mainly offer land clearing during periods when there is less tree removal and climbing work. I clear everything from smaller residential gardens to large neglected properties overgrown with tall grass or dense weeds. After the work is complete, the cut vegetation can be left on site, raked or removed by agreement.

  • Where I can help: steep slopes, tall grass, self-seeded trees, areas around fences, property boundaries and neglected land.
  • What I clear: grass, weeds and young self-seeded trees, including long-neglected properties.
  • Options: cut vegetation can be left on site, raked or removed by agreement.

Gutter Cleaning from Ground Level

I clean gutters safely without climbing ladders — working from the ground using a telescopic extension and a pressure washer. I quickly remove leaves, pine needles, cones, and debris so rainwater can flow freely again.

  • Safe: no risk of falling from height — reach up to approximately 6–7 m (20–23 ft) from ground level.
  • Clean: I protect the facade and surroundings when needed and remove larger debris manually.
  • Best timing: after autumn or spring, after tree pruning, or when water overflows from the gutter.
  • Service limitations: if the downpipe is fully blocked, pressure washing cannot remove deep internal blockages.
  • On-site requirements: access to a pressurised water supply is required (e.g., utility room valve, well connection, or outdoor tap).

Can be combined with pruning or tree removal — I can complete everything in one visit.

Common Gutter Cleaning Questions

Will pressure washing damage gutters or the facade?
I use controlled pressure and a telescopic system with appropriate nozzles. Surrounding areas are protected, and sensitive surfaces are cleaned carefully to avoid damage.
What if the downpipes are completely blocked?
A pressure washer can remove debris inside the gutter and standard dirt, but it cannot clear deep internal pipe blockages. In such cases, drain jetting hoses or mechanical cleaning are required.
Do I need to provide water access?
Yes. A pressurised water supply is required where the pressure washer can be connected (for example a utility room valve, well supply, or outdoor tap).
Do I need to provide electricity?
No. I use a petrol-powered pressure washer, so an electrical connection is not required. Only pressurised water access is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you also prune trees instead of removing them?

Yes. Whenever it is the best option for both the tree and safety, I recommend professional pruning instead of removal. Near buildings, I work section by section using rope rigging and controlled lowering techniques.

Can you remove a tree growing close to a house or overhead power lines?

Yes. This is exactly the type of work I specialise in. If there is not enough space to fell the tree safely in one piece, I dismantle it section by section using professional climbing techniques and controlled rope lowering.

Do you work in Košice, Gelnica and Prešov?

Yes. I mainly work in Košice, Gelnica, Prešov and the surrounding area. For larger or more technically demanding projects, I am also available further afield by prior arrangement.
