Overgrown Land Clearing in Košice and the Surrounding Area
Tall grass, dense weeds, self-seeded woody growth or land that has not been cut for several years. I also clear areas where a regular lawn mower cannot cope.
Not every property is a maintained lawn. It may be a steep slope behind a house, an overgrown garden, the edge of a forest or a large area covered with vegetation more than two metres high.
For this type of work, I use powerful professional brush cutters, metal blades and a working method adapted to the density of the vegetation, the terrain and obstacles hidden beneath the overgrowth.
“When a regular lawn mower has no chance, it is time to use a brush cutter.”
What Types of Land Do I Clear?
I mainly work on more demanding areas that cannot be cut easily with a regular lawn mower or tractor.
long-neglected and overgrown land
tall grass and dense weeds
vegetation one to two metres high or more
steep slopes and difficult-to-access terrain
areas around fences, walls, houses and outbuildings
the edges of forests, gardens and agricultural land
young self-seeded trees and woody stems
areas containing many obstacles where large machinery cannot be used
The size of the property is only one part of the job.
A 1,000 m² area covered with dense vegetation over two metres high may require more work than a much larger property with ordinary grass. The price and the time required depend mainly on the height and density of the vegetation, the terrain, the number of obstacles and whether the cut vegetation is left on site or removed.
Clearing Tall Grass and Two-Metre Weeds
On long-neglected properties, the vegetation is often no longer ordinary grass. It may form a dense monoculture with tough, fibrous stems that cannot be handled by a regular lawn mower.
In such cases, the area is cleared gradually using a brush cutter. On larger projects, two people may work simultaneously, making it possible to clear several thousand square metres in a single day, depending on the density of the vegetation and the weather conditions.
Real-Life Example – Approximately 6,500 m² of Overgrown Land
A dense monoculture of vegetation more than two metres high. The photographs show the progress after the first day of work and the completed result after the second day.
After the first day of work.
Approximately 1,500 m² of the roughly 6,500 m² site had been cleared during the first day.
The dense vegetation, growing over two metres high, required gradual manual clearing with brushcutters.
After completion.
The same site after two working days of manual brushcutting.
The owner chose thorough manual clearing after previous mulching with heavy machinery failed to deliver the desired result.
Mowing Slopes and Hard-to-Reach Areas
On steep slopes, alongside fences or in narrow spaces, large mowers and ride-on tractors are often impractical or simply cannot reach the area.
A professional brushcutter allows precise work around trees, shrubs, kerbs and other obstacles.
Steep terrain requires a slower working pace and greater physical effort.
Safe footing, full control of the machine and a methodical approach are essential, especially to avoid walking on freshly cut, slippery vegetation.
Steep slopes and uneven terrain are among the situations where a handheld brushcutter is often the only practical solution.
Large Machinery Is Not Always the Best Choice
On large, open and level sites, agricultural machinery such as tractors with mulchers can often be faster and more economical.
This approach works well where access is good and the area is free of obstacles.
Manual brushcutting is often the better choice when:
large machinery cannot access the site
the terrain is steep or uneven
the vegetation contains trees, shrubs, fences or other obstacles
precise work is required close to houses, gardens or buildings
the site is too small or too complex for large machinery
previous mulching or mechanical mowing did not achieve the desired result and the vegetation quickly regrew
suitable agricultural machinery is unavailable and a standard lawn mower or hobby machine lacks the power or recommended capacity for the area
"A tractor belongs in an open field. Between walls, fences, shrubs and trees, it's the brushcutter that gets the job done."
Even on level ground, a brushcutter can sometimes be the better choice if a mulcher only flattens the vegetation instead of cutting it properly, or when the available mower is not designed for mowing dozens of ares in a single job.
What Can Be Hidden in Tall Grass?
On neglected land, it is often impossible to see what lies beneath the vegetation.
There may be rocks, construction debris, wire, scrap metal, kerbs, broken glass, plastic waste or other objects left behind over the years.
These hidden obstacles slow down the work and can damage cutting equipment.
For that reason, dense vegetation is often cleared in stages, and suspicious areas should be checked before continuing.
Photographs do not always reveal the full picture.
When the vegetation is very tall, the true difficulty of the job may only become apparent once work begins.
Any preliminary quotation is therefore based on the available photographs, the estimated size of the site and the information provided by the owner.
How the Work Is Carried Out
Site assessment: evaluating the size of the area, vegetation height, terrain, access and visible obstacles.
Choosing the right cutting tool: a metal blade or a suitable cutting head, depending on the type of vegetation.
Gradual clearing: the vegetation is removed section by section to ensure safe and efficient work.
Final inspection: depending on the agreement, the area can be cut once or finished to a lower height.
Cut vegetation: the biomass can be left on site or raked and removed by agreement.
What Affects the Cost of Brushcutting?
Site size: total area in square metres, ares or an approximate site size
Vegetation height: normal grass, one-metre weeds or vegetation over two metres high
Vegetation density and type: soft grass, dense weeds or young woody growth
Terrain: flat ground, gentle slopes or steep hillsides
Obstacles: rocks, construction debris, fences, kerbs, shrubs and rubbish
Access: vehicle access and how easily the equipment can be transported to the work area
Cut vegetation: left on site, raked into piles or removed
Crew size: larger or more demanding projects may require an additional worker
Typical Examples of Job Complexity
Every site is different.
The examples below are not a price list but illustrate the difference between routine mowing and highly demanding projects.
🟢 Small Maintained Area
Low grass, good access, with typical obstacles around a house or garden.
Quoted individually
🟡 One Year Without Mowing
Grass and weeds approximately 50–100 cm high, with occasional slopes or denser vegetation.
Depends on the scope of work
🔴 Heavily Overgrown Site
Dense weeds one to two metres high, young woody growth and difficult terrain.
After assessment
🔥 Large-Scale Project
Several thousand square metres requiring multiple workers and one or more full working days.

What Happens to the Cut Grass and Weeds?
The simplest and most cost-effective option is to leave the cut vegetation on the site.
When dealing with large amounts of tall weeds, the volume of biomass can be considerable, and raking and removing it may take longer than the brushcutting itself.
Depending on your preference, the following options are available:
cutting the vegetation and leaving it on site
cutting and raking the vegetation into a designated area
cutting, raking and removing the vegetation
If the vegetation is to remain on the property, it is advisable to decide in advance whether it should be spread evenly across the site, arranged in rows or placed in a specific location.
Brushcutting as the First Step in Restoring Overgrown Land
Clearing overgrown vegetation often reveals the true condition of a neglected property for the first time.
Once the tall grass and weeds have been removed, young self-seeded trees, damaged fruit trees, dead branches or hazardous trees threatening nearby buildings, fences or overhead power lines may become visible.
In addition to brushcutting, I also provide tree removal, pruning and other arboricultural services.
If the property contains trees that require attention, I can assess their condition and recommend the most suitable course of action while I am already on site.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can you clear grass and weeds over two metres high?
Yes. The type and density of the vegetation, the terrain and the number of hidden obstacles are the main factors. Very dense vegetation may require several days of work.
How large an area can you clear in one day?
In suitable weather and reasonably accessible vegetation, I can clear approximately 3,000 m² in one day working alone. With an assistant, the daily capacity may reach around 5,000 m². The output can be considerably lower in extremely dense weeds, on steep slopes or where there are many obstacles.
Do you need to inspect the property before starting?
In most cases, photographs, the approximate size of the property, its location and information about the height of the vegetation are sufficient. For very large or difficult-to-assess sites, an on-site inspection may be necessary.
Can you also remove the cut vegetation?
Yes, by prior agreement. On large properties, however, raking and removing the cut vegetation are separate tasks that can often take longer than the brushcutting itself.
Do you also clear small gardens?
Yes, especially where the area is uneven or steep, the grass is tall or there are many obstacles that make a regular lawn mower impractical.
Can you also remove young trees and self-seeded growth?
I can remove young and thinner self-seeded trees using a suitable metal blade. Thicker woody growth must be cut separately and assessed according to its diameter and quantity.
How to Get a Price Estimate
The easiest way is to send:
photographs of the entire property from several angles
a close-up photograph of the vegetation
the approximate size or dimensions of the property
the address or town
whether the cut vegetation should remain on site or be removed
"The better the photographs and information you provide, the more accurately I can estimate the scope of work and the cost."
I mainly provide brushcutting services in Košice, the Košice region, Gelnica and Prešov. For more distant locations, travel costs are included in the quotation.
Need an Overgrown Property Cleared?
Send me photographs, the approximate size of the property and its location. Based on that information, I'll prepare an initial price estimate and recommend the most suitable approach.
